Nasser is a first year PhD student. He received his BA in Spanish Literature with honors from the University of Damascus in 2011. He then moved to the US where he finished his MA in Hispanic Studies at Villanova University, PA in 2013. His main areas of interest are Sufism, exile and popular literature in Medieval and Early Modern Iberia. He is also curious about the co-existence and mutual influence of Catholic, Jewish and Moorish elements in the Iberian culture during that same historical period. Outside the classroom, he enjoys spending time with his friends, listening to classical Arabic music and trying out new cuisines.
